Saving Squash Seeds
The process for saving winter squash seeds is fairly straightforward. Choose healthy, mature winter squash. The seed’s progeny will reflect the characteristics of the parent. If you are saving seeds from a summer squash, let the squash grow very large, far past the eating stage. Otherwise, the steps are the same as the butternut squash below.

Saving Lupine Seeds
After the sweet smelling lupine blooms fall, seed pods begin to form along the stem. The pods dry and turn gray-black in color.

Watch these seed pods carefully, and try to gather them before they all burst and fall to the ground.
